Easter Cantata Well Attended
The
Gretna Baptist Church Choir, under the direction of Terry
Stackhouse provided an Easter Cantata entitled In Christ
Alone on Good Friday night, March 21, at Bennington Baptist
Church in Bennington, and on Easter Sunday morning, March
23, at Gretna Baptist Church. The choir members are Kathie
Pieper, Elaine Ney, Lori Waterman, Amy Stackhouse, Kailey
Grossoehmig, Tessa Ueberrhein, Jill Stackhouse, Julie
Stackhouse, Darlene Hollwager, Erin Shaffer, Craig Neubauer,
Tim Shaffer, John Waterman, Roger Ridley, and Duane Pieper.
Bill Hollwager provided narration. Mike Mann and Art Perina
were the sound technicians.
March Madness
Friday
night, March 7, The Gretna Baptist Church Youth Group
participated in the statewide lock-in called March Madness,
sponsored by the Nebraska Association of Regular Baptist
Churches. The event was held at the Champions Sports Center
in Hastings. Thirteen churches participated with 200 teens
and sponsors in attendance. Skits and preaching was provided
by the E3 Ministry Team from Pillsbury Baptist Bible
College. Activities for the night included basketball,
volleyball, bowling, water slides, and a variety of other
activities.
Annual
Friends Day Service
 On Sunday, February 24, Gretna Baptist enjoyed its
Annual Friendship Sunday. In the morning service, Dr.
James Maxwell III was the guest speaker. He is the
president of Faith Baptist Bible College & Seminary in
Ankeny, Iowa. Dr. Maxwell spoke on True Friendship as
taught in the book of Proverbs and introduced Jesus
Christ as the best friend we can have. The GBC Choir
provided the special music for the service, singing
Sweet Jesus, a selection from their Cantata which they
will be presenting at the church on Easter Sunday, March
23. Following the service, approximately 100 stayed to
enjoy pizza as an opportunity to make new friends and
enjoy the fellowship of old friends.
Joy
Club Meets Every Wednesday from 6:30-7:30 P.M.
Joy Club is a discipleship program for children in preschool through grade 6.
Through it children learn about the gospel, hear stories of the Bible, and
memorize Scripture. Joy stands for Jesus, Others, and You.
It is based on Matthew 22:36-40.
Mother's Of Preschoolers Program Started!
On Tuesday evening September 11, a great group of young mothers attended the
first meeting of the Gretna Baptist Mops (Mothers of Preschoolers). The speaker
for the evening was Cyndy Salzmann addressing the topic of hospitality. Besides
the program for the mothers there were also age-graded programs available for
their children. MOPS meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month,
September - May from 6:45-8:15 P.M. For information contact mops@gretnabaptistchurch.com.
Gretna Baptist Seeks to Minister to the whole family!
We
now offer Nursery Care and a Children's Ministry during each service. Our goal
is to make it easier for families to attend our services and to minister to
everyone at their level.
